About Me

PA020108.JPG

I am a dental technician by trade. For the past twenty three years I have owned an operated my own dental lab serving the needs of the local dentist with removable appliances from dentures to retainers. I enjoy all  the activities in the  outdoors that southwest Louisiana has to offer. I live just south of Lake Charles La. where fishing an hunting opportunities are plentiful. I have been inspired by the many great tiers that have come before me. But there is one tier that has become more than a mentor, he is a true friend. If I rise to any stature in the world of fly ting it will be because of David Martin.
I look forward to new adventures in fly tying . New patterns , new innovations and new friends.

Realistic tying should be the natural evolution of fly tying. Making better more realistic versions to fool highly pressured fish.
But it should remain true to tying. All material should be tied to the hook. Collectors will tell you that whether it is a salmon fly or a realistic , the ones that are collected are those too pretty to fish not ones that can not be fished. There are many nefarious people on the web trying to gain a name in fly tying by posting modeled insects , using epoxy ,resins  and layers of paint .Some don't even leave the hook eye or a hook at all, and say" look at what I tied". Please do not patronize these people. Let them fade away. There are many true tyers out there to aspire to, David Martin , Bob Mead are the most well heard of ,but there are many others.Don't let the model makers gray the line as to what a fly is.
